The Woman's Relief Corps., the official Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, was formed during the Civil War. It was founded in 1883 and is the only one of the Allied Orders that does not require decendency for membership. There are seven Corps. in the Department of Ohio. W.R.C. today promotes patriotic education and support, by visiting schools, presenting flags and scholarships, holding patriotic essay competitions, visiting Veteran's hospitals, assisting Veterans, and holding Memorial, Veteran, and Flag Day ceremonies.
